JERRY LEWIS AND DICK GREGORY

We at the Stratford Public Library join in saluting the memories of two comics and humanitarians, people who not only made Americans laugh, but gave them cause to think, as well. Dick Gregory and Jerry Lewis both passed away the same day, Sunday August 20, but their shared legacies of laughter and philanthropy will live forever.

Happy Hundredth, JFK!

In addition to being Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th, would have been the hundredth birthday of one of our most beloved Presidents, John Fitzgerald Kennedy (1917 - 1963). The Pulitzer Prize-winning "Profiles in Courage" and other books by and about our 35th President are available at the Stratford Public Library. For further information, come by to visit the library or call (856) 783-0602.

April 29: We celebrated a commemoration in honor of Ruth Roderick, the former director and guiding spirit of our library. Over 50 participants joined us in the dedication of the "Ruth Roderick Children's Room" and the renaming of a block of Kirkwood Ave. (between Union & Princeton) as "The Ruth Roderick Way." Click on the photos below and join the celebration!

April 22: We celebrated National Poetry Month with an unforgettable reading from Therese Halscheid and Chris Bursk. Thirty-nine attendees gathered at the Whitman-Stafford Farmhouse, in Laurel Springs, to meet our poets upclose & personal and to have autographed copies of their books. Though it rained throughout the day, those gathered in the large gazebo enjoyed the poetry, fresh fruit & beverages and never complained about the weather. We all felt the warming spirit of Whitman who presided over the reading & blessed us all with his good vibes!
